If you have added ssl certificate to a existing website it is often common that some url , images, or attachment not loading over https. If you have added ssl to your wordpress site but the https:// is not turning green with lock icon means some files are not loading over https .

General error text in console:

The page at ‘https://sailingvirgins.com/’ was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure image ‘http://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/blank.png’.
This content should also be served over HTTPS.

 You can check which files are not being loaded over https.

Is is possible to check it on your browser. Open your site  chrome. Press F12 button.



In chrome the browser console will open. Click console . You will see how many files is not being loaded over https on right hand side and below you can see which files are not being loaded. If you are sure from where the files is loading can manually update to https. But if there this many files you may want to do this using any plugin.



Updating all link, files to be loaded over https using plugin:

You can update all link to https automatically. For that you can install a plugin from wordpress.  Install this url fixer plugin to your site and activate.






















Once activated the plugin will appear under Tools meu in sidebar.

  • Hover over tools and click “Update url”
  • Old url: Like previous url:  http://mydomain.com
  • New url: https://mydomain.com
  • Mark all selection box
  • Click “Update URLs NOW”

All the static URLs will be updated to https. Now visit your site and you will see your site https turns to green.If not check in console again.
